The atmosphere of the Zermatt Unplugged festival is legendary, with music lovers basking in the Spring sunshine and enjoying stunning views of the infamous Matterhorn from all angles whilst dancing in the snow!
This year’s Zermatt Unplugged festival runs from Tuesday 5th – Saturday 9th April 2016 and with no less than 13 Marquee and Club stages both in the village and on the slopes, it is set to be another fantastic year for the ski resort.
Founded in 2007 by Thomas Sterchi and Marco Godat as a singer and songwriter festival, Zermatt Unplugged has become a beloved platform for both current and new live music. Well known musicians and bands such as Alanis Morissette, Billy Idol, Lionel Richie, Lauryn Hill, Simply Red, James Blunt, Katie Melua and OneRepublic have all graced the stages in previous years as well as welcoming back festival favourites year after year such as Ronnie Scott’s All Stars band from the infamous London Jazz nightclub.
This year welcomes James Morrison, Xavier Rudd, Simple Minds, Lisa Stansfield, Jack Savoretti and many talented new artists. There are the 30 free concerts from noon every day and tickets for other events can be purchased from the official Zermatt Unplugged website.
Concerts in the Marquee Stage commence from 8:30pm and at the later time of 10:45pm in the Vernissage. Live music can also be enjoyed at the snow stage of the Gandegghütte (3,030m), Hotel Mont Cervin Palace, the Foyerzelt, Alex, Blue Lounge (2,580m), Cervo Boutique Hotel, Pink (Hotel Post) as well as the stage in front of the Matterhorn Museum.

You could enjoy the sounds of music through Zermatt village from the whirlpool of Backstage Chalet which is hydraulically lifted above the roof! The view from above the chalet is truly breathtaking, making the experience unlike any other you can find in resort.
The chalet is based on an old Valais house dating from the 1940’s, which Heinz Julen has modernised and extended by two storeys in line with the chalet nature of the building. This extension has been constructed exclusively from local larch and designed to include large areas of glass, providing a spectacular 360 degree panoramic view over the village and the Matterhorn.
