In late November, Mia and I were lucky enough to leave the cold and wet here in Bournemouth and jet out to the slightly colder Verbier to visit for the first (and hopefully not last) time. The order of our first day was a tour around the beautiful sun and snow soaked resort to take a look at some of our properties featured on this website, our Ultimate Luxury Chalets selection…

Chalet Truffe BlancheLocated in Patiers, just an 8 minute drive to the Medran lift station and 7 minutes to Place Centrale, lies the opulent Chalet Truffe Blanche. Inspired by the Roman Empire, this palace (and it can simply only be described as that) spreads over 3,000m2 and sleeps 18 people in 7 suites and 2 superior bedrooms. When you step into the living area you’re hit with golds, reds and a huge amount of fur, running your fingers along the walls they are met with fabric instead of wallpaper. Everything from floor to ceiling oozes with sophistication, from the cigar room, through the drawing room and even into the kitchen area. Round the corner you even have your own private nightclub complete with the cleanest ‘public’ toilets I’ve ever witnessed.

Just as we thought we’d seen it all, then comes the spa. Taking up 1,500m2 this really is the jewel in the crown. The pictures do this space no justice at all! The high ceilings mixed with the beautiful marble throughout the pool area gives this space a real air of grandeur. This is certainly the place to come if you want to feel like royalty!

Chalet Mon IzbaThis chalet is situated in a fantastic position. High up in the Sonalon area of Verbier sits Chalet Mon Izba. Perched on the mountainside with some spectacular views overlooking the valley, the immediate thought when you step through the door is ‘How on earth is this chalet only a year old?!’. Built at the same time as its neighbour, Chalet Orsini, the chalet has a rustic alpine feel to it. The marvellous pine wood scent can be enjoyed on every floor, from the master bedroom with it’s unique bath window looking out over Verbier, through the wine cave down to the wellness area with pool, sauna and gym. The simple wood carvings into beams and old paintings scattered around the chalet complete the chocolate box theme.

Chalet Dent BlancheThis chalet is smack bang in the centre of resort – though you’d never know it. To get to the chalet your driver has to navigate a narrow windy path downhill, through a garage and then even further down the little lane until you reach Dent Blanche. From the outside you’d think it was just any normal chalet, but as you step through the front door it becomes very apparent that this is no ordinary chalet!

With a distinct Himalayan vibe, the owners clearly have an eye for design, blending contemporary design with a traditional/asian twist. The view from the outdoor hot tub is a fantastic wooded vista, there are no chalet rooftops to spoil the view and really makes you feel like you could be in a secluded hut somewhere remote. The swimming pool is one of a kind, the water level rises up to just flow over the edges and creating that perfect infinity pool, the Buddha statue at the end and snowy views out of the wide floor to ceiling windows make it feel supremely serene.

Chalet Le TiIf there was ever a perfect little chocolate box chalet, this is it. Just a two minute drive to the Medran lift station and just a short walk to the centre of town the chalet is perfect for those who want ease of access to everywhere in town but still away slightly from the hustle and bustle. Like the majority of chalets in Verbier it’s a very traditional alpine getaway filled full of comfy furniture, open fireplace and tasteful decor. The outdoor hot tub takes pride of place on the large terrace which has some stunning views down the valley, adults a children alike can also take advantage of the pool/snooker table in the entertainment room. Perfect for unwinding!
