Few of you will have heard of the Swiss ski resort of Davos. Davos is better known in financial circles than it is in the ski circles as each year it hosts the World Economic Forum or WEF as it is commonly referred by. All of this is about to change though. So what is new in Davos for the coming season? The main exciting news is that the old Schaffurggli T-bar has been replaced by Switzerland’s most state of the art and advanced ski lift. The new chair lift is perfect for disabled skier or those skiing with families. Whilst waiting for the next chair to come around lasers determine if you are an adult, child or disabled skier and adjust the height of the platform you are standing on by up to 10cm. No longer do parents have to lift their kids onto the lift before caring to themselves. Not only that, the safety bar automatically locks into place. If things weren’t stress-free enough, you can then enjoy the cushioned heated seats. The hardest part of the journey will be disembarking at the top and knowing you have left the comfort behind. Carrying up to 2600 skiers an hour this new lift is sure to shorten queues and make skiing in the Davos ski area a lot easier. Skiers in neighbouring Klosters are sure to head over and test out the new impressive lift.
The other exciting news for the coming season in Davos is the new Ice rink, ‘Davos world of Ice’ features several ice rinks, all with different themes and all of which are interconnected. Fun Characters offer a helping hand to the skaters and guide them around the many zones, including the Ice cross rink, hockey and curling areas as well as an ice Disco! For those who just want to relax after a day on the slopes or who are so chilled out from using the new Schaffurggli chairlift that they can’t fathom the energy to hit the ice they have an inbuilt chalet where you can enjoy hot drinks or try some of the local delicacies!
