Verbier apres ski doesn’t really call for an introduction. The resort’s reputation is for encouraging visitors to abandon reality for a week of decadence in the mountains. The apres ski in Verbier is some of the best across the Alps and certainly in Switzerland. It boasts renowned DJ’s, live bands every night and venues to suit all tastes. Whilst the fun is concentrated in a few infamous venues, the party is all the better for it.
There’s no need to wait until you’re off the mountain to start your evening of apres ski in Verbier…the fun starts on the hill and can continue until the early hours if you really get carried away!
Perched on the edge of the mountain at Ruinettes, Ice Cube hosts a DJ on the terrace most afternoons. A real sun-trap, with incredible views across the Val de Bagnes, grab a deck-chair and an Aperol for a Vitamin D top-up or join the crowd on the terrace for a couple of warm-up beers before the final run back down to Medran. If you get carried away, just hop back onto the neighbouring Medran gondola directly back down to the main village.
Hang a right past 1936 to finish your day’s skiing down at the infamous Le Rouge après bar and restaurant. Sitting just at the bottom of the eponymous piste, Le Rouge is amongst the most popular of Verbier après ski bars. Everyone from celebrities to seasonnaires congregate on their roof-top bar to grab a bottle of rose and dance with the resident DJ. The crowds start to congregate from about 3.30 before heading further into the centre of town to continue their evening by about 6.
With a panoramic terrace offering stunning views down the valley, expert mixologists and a selection of fine cigars, the W Living Room invites guests to enjoy some of life’s little luxuries at the end of a hard day’s skiing. Relax with friends on the sofas, or prop yourself at the bar to watch your cocktail of choice being prepared.
THE prime location for an après bar in Verbier, W Off Piste sits right at the bottom of the home run back to Medran. Think fire-pits and chilled beats from one of the resident DJ’s whilst the sun sets over the neighbouring peaks…
Vinabagnes and Fer a Cheval
Walking down the hill towards Place Centrale will bring you across a pair of bars and restaurants. Each is popular with locals as well as tourists and present different sides of the authentic Swiss experience.
Vinabagnes is a specialist wine bar with a generous list to choose from. Doubling up as a deli during the day, they also offer a delicious selection of nibbles for anyone who needs a snack. This is one for relaxing on the terrace with a bottle of ice cold rosé in the sun.
Fer a Cheval is a bustling and cosy bar and restaurant perfect for some Verbier apres ski. From 5 until 8, the bar and terrace are thick with groups of friends enjoying an apero with some bread and cheese to nibble on before supper. The atmosphere is loud and fun; a great spot for anyone who has some stories from the mountain they can’t wait to regale their group with.
Probably the most famous of the Verbier après-ski bars, Farinet Après brings an amazing party every night of the season. It’s been voted the world’s best après bar before, and it’s easy to see why. With live bands every night from 6pm, dancing on the tables is encouraged, and a ‘shot ski’ is passed around. When the party’s in full swing, Farinet can quite literally raise the roof, allowing the last sun of the day to join the festivities.
A long-standing and very bijou Verbier institution, it’s also a place to visit and escape the tourist crowds. With Belgian beer, local wines and specialist house cocktails, at Crock No Name you can enjoy a relaxed après ski drink on the sunny terrace above Place Centrale. Or, you can get carried away until 2am with the nightly DJ or band.
For anyone who’d rather unwind with a signature cocktail in hand, the Farinet Lounge is a classy après ski option with expert mixologists, an open fire, plus a tempting menu of sushi and nibbles to keep the hunger pangs at bay.
To continue your night in style, Farinet South is one of the most popular spots for late-night après ski in Verbier. There’s a different DJ every night of the week, and Farient South is open until 4am daily. There’s always an excuse to continue the party.
A Verbier institution, the Farm Club was established in the 1970s and has hosted royals and celebrities through the generations. Walk through the doors, and decadence reigns supreme until dawn.
